NuVet Plus® Ingredients
Zinc (Dipeptide Chelate)
Zinc is a component of nearly a hundred enzymes involved in major metabolic process, most of which work with the red blood cells to move carbon dioxide from the tissues to the lungs. It is also a key component of insulin.
Zinc functions as an important antioxidant, promotes normal growth and development and aids in wound healing. It enhances cell division, repair and growth. Zinc also helps to maintain normal levels of vitamin A in the blood and helps in the synthesis DNA and RNA.
Zinc is especially important for prostate gland function and the growth of reproductive organs. It is required for protein synthesis and collagen formation. Zinc also helps protect the liver from chemical damage.
Sufficient zinc levels are required by the body in order to maintain the correct level of vitamin E in the blood.
Zinc deficiencies have been linked to cancer and slow recovery from head injuries. They also contribute to diabetes, arthritis and reduced immune system processes. Zinc deficiency can also result in the loss of taste and smell.
Zinc levels can be impacted by diarrhea, kidney disease and diabetes.
The zinc in NuVet Plus® is derived from Zinc Dipeptide Chelate, a form of zinc that is bonded to an amino acid (i.e. "chelated"). Chelated minerals are frequently absorbed by animals better than non-organic forms.
