Selenium is an essential trace mineral
found in the soil in an inorganic form. Plants and
microorganisms convert inorganic selenium to organic forms.
Organic forms of selenium then become available as nutrients
for animals. Selenium is only
one of several protective antioxidants in the NuVet Plus®
formula. It is another nutritional aid against the
damage caused by free radicals and the pollution we all
encounter in the modern world.
Selenium works synergistically with
vitamin-E. Each helps the other to be absorbed by the
body more efficiently than if each nutrient was present
alone.
Selenium is also considered to be a

protect against cancers of the lung, colon, rectum, and

Larry C. Clark, M.P.H., PhD (Arizona
Cancer Center, College of Medicine, University of Arizona),
studied the effectiveness of selenium supplementation for
preventing cancers and for reducing cancer mortality.
These results indicate that when all cancers were studied,
the group getting selenium supplementation had a 37 percent
reduction in cancer incidence and a 50 percent reduction in
cancer mortality.
Selenium yeast is the bio-available
source of selenium used in NuVet Plus®. In recent
studies selenium yeast was proven effective in producing
consistent elevations of blood selenium concentrations in a
large-scale human intervention trial, supported by the
National Cancer Institute. |
